Prof. Dr. Levent ALTINAY


 

Levent Altinay is Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship and the Editor-in-Chief of The Service Industries Journal (SSCI indexed). Altinay’s research interests are in the areas of entrepreneurship, strategic alliances and international business. Using primarily qualitative methods as well as mixed methods, he is particularly interested in how entrepreneurs start up and develop their businesses and how firms establish partnerships internationally. He is a visiting Professor at the Faculty of Economics, Department of Business Studies and Environment, University of Piemonte Orientale, Cagliari University, Italy, Koc University, Istanbul, Turkey and The L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, Astana, Kazakhstan. Altinay was a member of the Business & Economics Panel in Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) 2014 in Hong Kong.

He sits on the editorial boards of more than 12 journals, including Journal of Business Research, Journal of Services Marketing, and Management Decision. He is the Associate Editor, Europe, for Journal of Service Theory and Practice JSTP and International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management. He has also chaired/co-chaired six international conferences and has also co-authored of four books including research methods, entrepreneurship and strategic management text books.


 Abdurrahman (Apo) H. DEMİRTAS, Ph.D



Apo began his hotel management career as a student at a Hotel Management Vocational High School at age 15. His experience spans over 30 years of leadership roles in revenue management, sales and marketing, distribution, strategyand business intelligence.

Prior to founding Intelligent Hospitality in the capacity of Chief Executive Officer, Apo was the Chief Sales & Marketing Officer of Jumeirah Group based in Dubai. Prior to his time with Jumeirah Group, Apo worked in senior sales, marketing and revenue management positions with high profile international hotel companies including InterContinental Hotels Group where he was the Head of Market Strategyand Hilton Hotels Corporation where led Revenue Management. His extensive global experience in the strategy, branding, operations, sales, marketing, distribution and revenue management fields of the hospitality industry covers multiple brands and industry segments, ranging from luxury hotels to select service properties.

Apo holds a Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Management from Mersin University. He also earned his Master’s degree in Hotel Management from the Florida International University School in 1995. Subsequently, he did his doctoral work in Microeconomics at Ohio State University.
